#LJIL; March ‘16

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

The 88th Academy Awards took place on the 28th of February this year, and it inspired me to do a little award ceremony-esque post of my own for the month of March. It goes very well in line with my concept of #LJILs so I thought, why not make this month’s LJIL Oscars-themed! 😉

And the horses? I befriended them in my neighbour’s barn last Spring — it was around this time of year, I believe — and I miss them, I really do.

Word of the month:

Video of the month:

Prudential #RelationshipReconnect, Singapore

I quote Prudential, “With mounting social stresses like financial insecurity, pervasive technology and work-life imbalance, we found marriages and family relationships, as well as friendships and colleague relationships, were coming under strain. Our response? We conducted a “social experiment” to see if simply looking at someone for four quiet, uninterrupted minutes could create a sense of closeness and empathy. See how Singaporeans reacted when they tried this moving and inspirational experience.”

How did it make You feel?

Dialogue of the month:

Fletcher stuck out his hand. Skulduggery observed it for a moment.
“I’m sorry, what are we doing now?”
“Shaking hands,” Fletcher said. “Like adults. I just want you to know that this past year has changed me. I’ve grown, as a person. I’m not the same Fletcher you used to know.
“You look a lot like him.”
“Well, yeah, but-”
“And you have the same ridiculous hair.”
“Can we just shake hands?”
“Of course we can,” Skulduggery said, and they shook. “Now what?”
“I, uh…I don’t really know. What do adults usually do after they shake hands?”
“Generally, the first thing they do is let go.”
“Oh, right,” Fletcher said, and Skulduggery took his hand back. “So, Skulduggery, how have you been? You’re looking well. That’s a really nice tie.
“It’s blue.”
“And such a nice shade.”
Skulduggery looked at Valkyrie. “You promised me he wouldn’t be annoying.”

The Danes have a word for wellbeing, although it’s said that there’s no good English translation for it.

pronounced “hoo-ga”

Simply put, it is the Danish ritual of enjoying life’s simple pleasures: family, friends, graciousness. It is to create a warm atmosphere and to allow the enjoyment of the good things in life with good people.

Aspyn Ovard (Ferris) & Parker Ferris

I don’t usually watch lifestyle channels on YouTube but I can’t quite put my finger on why I truly enjoy watching Aspyn’s and Parker’s videos. Watching them being so adorable together has not only made my month but also reminded me that one can never be too old to have fun. They are, quite possibly, are my OTP. From Aspyn’s naturally cheery spirit and Parker’s cute smile to the lovely way they say, “Baaaaaabe,” to each other, I just really really love them.

Oh and did I mention that they’re married?

Also, I’m obsessed with their beautifully-pieced travel diaries. I don’t know about You, but these travel diaries sure do ignite the desire to travel within me.
