For A Better Day

“It seems that scientists have been really taken with the studying of music these days. Recently a London scientists concluded that Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is the most iconic song ever written. Now, cognitive neuroscientist Dr. Jacob Jolij from the University of Groningen in Holland, narrowed down the 10 best songs for any listener to be put into a good mood.

Some of the key components that he used to determine a song’s positive effect on the listener include positive lyrics, a high tempo (150 beats per minute), and being played in a third major key. “A feel good song is very personal. Music intimately linked with memory and emotion, and these associations strongly determine whether a song will put you in a good mood or not,” says Jolij. “However there are some key criteria for composers to consider when creating feel good songs – namely lyrical theme, musical key, and tempo.”

Jolij used these components to conclude that these 10 feel good songs are the best to put you in a good mood.”
